Where the picture comes from
The source bay picks it. Cam is the live camera and the one this bench is for: press Start Camera and the browser asks once, and nothing is uploaded or leaves the device. Ref is the screenshot that came with your uploaded project. Gen is a colour field for when there is no camera to hand. File takes a clip or an image you drop in.
- Camera blocked: your browser refused and will not ask again by itself. Allow the camera for this site in the browser's settings, then press Retry.
- Needs a secure page: browsers hand the camera only to a page served over https. Open this page from its link, not from a file.
- Nothing here: the device reports no camera, or another app is holding it.
- Off releases the camera and stops capture at any time. The lamp in the header shows when it is live.
Where this came from
You uploaded a page of your own. Every effect here is that page's real code: its four shaders, its twelve controls and its six looks, on the same maths, rebuilt as a bench. The picture you sent with it was a screenshot of that page failing to reach its own camera. That is why the camera is the first source here, and why the bench explains the permission at every step instead of going dark.
Knobs
- Drag a knob up or down to move it. Hold Shift for fine.
- Click a knob and use the ↑ ↓ keys, or Home / End.
- The number under each knob is its exact value.
The rack
Four effect modules in a chain: the signal runs camera, Datamosh, Pixel Sort, Feedback, Colour Shift, monitor. A module only touches the picture when its ARM switch is on. Output trims grade the whole chain at the end.
Patch bay
- Drag from a source jack (Lfo, Drift, Env) to an input jack to hang a cable. On a touch screen, tap one jack then tap the other.
- The small knob beside each input jack sets how deep that modulation runs.
- Click a cable to pull it.
Warp pad
Drag the square to push the picture around. Release and it stays where you left it. Press Reset to recentre.
Clips
- Press R or the amber REC button to record the monitor, press again to stop. The clip lands in the deck as a frame of film. The camera keeps running behind it.
- LEN sets the clip length so you cannot overrun memory.
- SNAP saves a still. FREEZE stacks the current frame into the feedback path. CLR drops all frozen frames.
- VIEW plays a cut back, SAVE writes the file to your device, DEL drops it. The deck is what you take away, not what feeds the bench.
Randomise
The amber Randomise button at the top, or X on the keyboard, rolls a fresh setting for every effect at once: all four modules and their switches, the output grade, the feedback history, the generator rate, the modulation bay and the warp pad. Press it as often as you like. Nothing else is lost, and no file on your device is touched.
Keyboard
- R record / stop · S snapshot · F freeze · C clear frozen · X randomise every effect
